Golfing…Finally!
Ok so now that we have finished moving to the Farm and getting over the sugar high from the cruise we should be done, you know doing things right? Well that is just the opposite. We were in Tennessee visiting some family for Thanksgiving. and since it has been so long since the last time I have played golf, I was really excited to play with my new clubs. Oh you haven’t heard? Ok, well I got fitted for clubs and they FINALLY ARRIVED! In case you play golf and care about that kind of thing I got Taylormade P-790 irons, a high loft Ping G430 three wood, a Ping G430 driver, and to top it all of I got a Taylormade milled grind 56* wedge.
So as I said we were in Tennessee and the golf course Daddy and I chose to play at was Mont Lake. It was so high up, at 1800 feet of elevation, that my ears were popping on the way up the hill. Anyway this place was not only known for its golf course but it also had some really cool big rocks that brought avid rock climbers there to test their skills. I knew that this round was going to be bittersweet for me after I hit my first tee shot. I pushed it way out of bounds right but it was still awesome to hit my clubs for the first time on the course. After that I was able to pull myself together and shoot a 43/+9 on the front nine. If y’all did not know for about the last three to four months Daddy has not beaten me in golf. He came close to breaking that streak today but all he could muster was a 43. So my streak stands, for now…
I guess Daddy counted his blessings and he suggested we play a scramble on the back nine. I agreed because, why not. It was actually pretty fun but the best part was probably the views. This one of the prettiest golf courses I have ever played. In some places you could see the Appalachian mountains. Some of the most memorable moments were when we played an eighty yard par three that was like forty yards downhill and from the tee box and you couldn’t see the pin. Another fun time was when Daddy hit his second tee shot on the eighteenth hole and we thought it had just gone out of bounds, even though it was a really good shot. So since we assumed it was out of bounds we just kept playing until we found it while we were looking for my second shot! He hit that ball like 400 yards!!! Now mind you it was downhill and we are pretty sure it hit the cart path but still it was pretty cool.
So all in all I thought it was an excellent experience and a fantastic way to start playing with my new clubs. I hope you liked this and stay tuned for more fun adventures right here at Branch and Vine!
